FundraisingThe Lowry Spring Auction: Our ’08 Spring Auction was a huge success. Together, we raised over $22,000 benefit Lowry Elementary School. Save the Date!! This year’s auction is on Saturday, 3/7/09 at 7 PM, at Wings Over the Rockies Museum. This year’s theme is DENIM AND DIAMONDS. Please take a moment to consider how you can help. Email either of our Auction Co-Chairs (see below) with your ideas, suggestions or if you wish to volunteer. Here are FIVE ways to help: 1. Forward copies of the Donation Cover Letter as well as our Electronic Donation Form to friends/family/coworkers—2009 versions will be sent in an upcoming PTO Blast and in Thursday Folders Take a copy along when you visit local retailers and ask for a contribution. 2. Support your classroom by volunteering to help on the Collaborative Art project donated by each class—see your child’s Room Parent for details. 3. Do you have a vacation home or time share? Donate a getaway! Click here for a copy of the Getaway Donation Form. 4. Contribute to the Wine Cellar—visit Lowry Liquors and receive 20% off a purchase of $22 or more, and the wine you donate will be included in the Cellar. Or, purchase a bottle of your choosing, and contact the committee for pick up. Click here for the Wine Cellar Donation Form. 5. Not comfortable soliciting donations? Consider helping out the decorations/setup committee, or the event committee, or the correspondence committee. Every little bit helps make this fabulous event a success! Sally Foster: our Annual Fall fundraiser was a huge success. Together, we raised $5331.74 to help our children soar. Sally Foster items are still available for purchase. LES continues to earn 50% profit on every purchase made on www.sallyfoster.com until 6/30/09. Just enter account number 765903 at checkout. Box Tops for Education: Box Tops Collection Days this year are: 10/17/08, 1/30/09, and 4/24/09. Visit www.boxtops4education.com for more information. Each Lowry Elementary School supporter who signs up for Box Tops email newsletters at btfe.com/2008 earns 5 bonus box tops. Terracycle: Terracycle is a unique recycling program which will give us $0.02 for each juice pouch (such as Capri Sun and Honest Kids) we send them. The pouches would ordinarily go to a land fill, instead Terracycle utilizes them as raw materials for purses, sandals etc. Participation will teach our students about protecting the environment by reusing materials in creative ways. Remember to save these pouches from your child’s sport events, birthday parties, etc. A collection bin will be available in the cafeteria, and, parents who collect at home may arrange for a volunteer pick up. Albertson’s Community Partner Program: Albertson’s gives back to youth, one shopping cart at a time, through its loyalty card program. Special cards to keep handy on your key chain are available in the front office—pick one up today, and start earning for Lowry! Each time an eligible purchase is made at Albertson’s/Savon/Osco Drugs, up to 4% is given back to the school. Last year we earned $261.87 from this program. Original Works: offers a way to support the LES art program, by having your child’s very own artwork created in Mr. Bloom’s class, printed onto a variety of professional, full color products. Over the past 3 years, $4828 was raised for the LES Art and Music Curriculums. Look for the informational flyer and order form in a March Thursday Folder—orders and funds are due on 3/13/09. Visit www.originalworks.com to find out more about the products offered on their website.
Door to Door Organics: This is our first year with this exciting program. Join a LES Coop with Door To Door Organics—Our newest fundraiser is all about going green. By joining an LES Coop, you can develop a healthier lifestyle, have organic produce and groceries delivered to a convenient location near you, AND help reduce your carbon footprint, all while supporting LES! Here’s how it works: 1. We are connecting families in the North Lowry and South Lowry neighborhoods. Once 4 families agree to a single delivery location and delivery schedule, they are a “Coop”. D2D will give 10% of the proceeds from their purchases to LES. Each family has individual control over their orders and what substitutions they wish to make. Each family still has an individual account, and controls its own payments. 2. Once your coop has been organized, you’ll visit www.colorado.doortodoororganics.com and set up your delivery by choosing your box size (bitty-large) and type (fruit-veggie or combo). You may customize the contents and adjust your delivery online. A reminder will be sent to you each week by 9 am the Friday prior to your next delivery day. Changing your order is as simple as visiting the website. Volunteers are needed in for both North and South neighborhoods to orchestrate this program.
